It took the Kishwaukee Kougars all of the 40 minutes of regulation plus almost the entire 5 minutes of the overtime period to gain a 98-97 victory over the Highland College Cougars. Trailing with under :30 seconds left in overtime, a combination of missed free throws by Highland and 3 consecutive 3-pt shots by the Kougars, the last being the game winner, sealed the victory for the Kougars. The barrage of 3-pt shots in the final period started with make from Ryan Reeder (Mendota High School), followed by a make from E'mon Frison (Hales Franciscan High School) and finally the game winner by Austin Patterson (Morris High School).
The Kougars started out slowly, trailing Highland by as many as 14 points. A 3-pt shot by Koko Songolo (Madison Memorial High School) as time expired in the first half, cut the Highland lead to 1 point at 48-47. The Kougars took their first lead of the game with 12:13 left and led by as many as 10 points, until allowing Highland to tie the game at the end of regulation with baskets on 3 consecutive possessions.
Malcolm Reed (Marquette Catholic High School) led the Kougars with 28 points and 13 rebounds. Bryson Butler (Lincoln Park High School) and Koko Songolo followed in scoring with 15 and 13 points. JoVonte Peals (Marquette Catholic High School) finished with 12 points and Austin Patterson finished with 10 points.
