Renny Tolentino Throws No-Hitter During Split with Carl Sandburg

Game 1

Kishwaukee College drops high-scoring affair to Carl Sandburg, 12-8

Kishwaukee College lost a battle of the bats on Tuesday at Galesburg, IL, falling short in a 12-8 ballgame against Carl Sandburg.

Cooper Vinz racked up three RBIs on two hits for Kishwaukee College and singled in the first and seventh innings.

Carl Sandburg's Angel Figueroa, Reed Sprinkle and Alex Satunas combined for seven hits and nine RBIs.

In the top of the first, Kishwaukee College grabbed the early lead, 1-0. Kishwaukee College got things going when both David Salgueiro and Austin Allende singled, resulting in bringing home Jared Johnson.

Carl Sandburg survived Kishwaukee College's surge and put up two runs of its own in the first. Carl Sandburg scored on a sacrifice fly by Sprinkle and an RBI single by Satunas.

Kishwaukee College brought home two runs in the second inning, and matched that run total in the seventh. In the second, Kishwaukee College scored on an RBI single by Salgueiro, scoring Aneudy DeLacruz.

The lead stayed with Carl Sandburg after the third, when it scored two runs on a two-run home run by Satunas.

Carl Sandburg added eight more runs in the bottom of the fifth. Satunas started the inning with a single, plating Logan Davis and Sprinkle.

After pushing across three runs in the top of the sixth, Kishwaukee College faced just a 12-6 deficit. A hit by pitch, a walk by Austin Allende, and another hit by pitch gave Kishwaukee College life. The Kishwaukee College threat came to an end when Brenton Stropes finally got Gary Garcia to fly out.

A two-run seventh inning helped bring Kishwaukee College within four. A two-run single by Vinz fueled Kishwaukee College's comeback and Matt Albert to end the ballgame.

 

Game 2

Renny Tolentino throws no-hitter as Kishwaukee College defeats Carl Sandburg 5-0

Tuesday was a day Renny Tolentino will remember forever as he threw a no-hitter in Kishwaukee College's 5-0 victory over Carl Sandburg.

No Carl Sandburg batter was able to locate Tolentino's pitches during the game. Tolentino threw a no-hitter, striking out eight batters and walking none while recording his momentous feat. He got Reed Sprinkle to ground out for the final out of the game.

Cooper Vinz rocked Carl Sandburg with two home runs. He went 2-4 in the game with three RBIs, two runs scored and then homered in the first and fifth innings.

Kishwaukee College hit three home runs in the win when Jared Johnson homered in the first inning and Vinz homered in the first and fifth innings.

Kishwaukee College never trailed after scoring two runs in the first on two solo blasts.
