Kougars Sweep, Clinch Arrowhead Conference Championship

Matt Albert went 5-7 with 3 home runs and 9 RBI's to help lead the Kishwaukee Kougars to a two-game road sweep over Sauk Valley, clinching the Arrowhead Conference Championsip.

Game 1-

Kishwaukee College jumped out to an early lead on Sauk Valley and captured a 12-3 victory on Tuesday at Dixon, IL.

With seven runs in the first three innings, Kishwaukee left no doubt about the eventual outcome.

An error, a sacrifice fly by Matt Albert, and a solo home run by Austin Allende in the first inning and a hit by pitch, a sacrifice fly by Cooper Vinz, a sacrifice fly by Albert, and an RBI single by Austin Allende during the second inning fueled the Kougar's offense early.

Kishwaukee College's Andres Rios was perfect at the dish, going 3-3. He doubled in the second inning, singled in the third inning, and homered in the sixth inning.

Austin Broyles handled Sauk Valley's lineup with ease, racking up nine strikeouts. Broyles allowed two earned runs, three hits and no walks over seven innings.

Kishwaukee College scored one run in the sixth inning, and then followed it up with one more in the seventh. In the sixth, Kishwaukee scored on a solo home run by Rios.

Game 2-

An exceptional effort by Matt Albert hoisted Kishwaukee College to a 13-9 win in seven innings over Sauk Valley on Tuesday at Dixon, IL.

Albert racked up six RBIs on three hits for Kishwaukee. He homered in the first, fifth, and seventh innings.

Kishwaukee found itself down in the fourth inning but managed to fight back and claim the win.

Each team blasted the other's pitching, and there were 22 total runs and 25 hits during the game. Managers of the two teams seemingly emptied their bullpens in search of the win, as there were nine pitchers used in the game.

Four relief pitchers finished off the game for Kishwaukee College. Kody Kutzke faced six batters in relief, while Chris Suarez managed to record nine outs to aid the victory.

In the top of the first, Kishwaukee College grabbed the early lead, 2-0. David Salgueiro singled to ignite Kishwaukee's offense. A stolen base then moved Salgueiro from first to second. Kishwaukee then tacked on more runs when scored on a solo home run by Albert.

Sauk Valley got one-run boosts in each of the first, fourth and seventh. In the first, Sauk Valley scored on a passed ball, bringing home Trevor Bolin.

Kishwaukee never surrendered the lead after the fifth inning, scoring seven runs on an RBI double by Jaylon Hughes, a three-run home run by Albert, and two singles.

Kishwaukee College scored two runs in the sixth inning, and then followed it up with two more in the seventh. In the sixth, Kishwaukee scored on a sacrifice fly by Aneudy DeLacruz, scoring Austin Allende.

Sauk Valley scored one run in the bottom of the seventh to cut its deficit to four. An RBI single by Diontrell Earls triggered Sauk Valley's comeback. Renny Tolentino ended the game by getting Bryar Wilson to strike out.
