Kishwaukee’s winning streak ends at 7 with a 77-76 loss to #3 Nationally ranked Elgin College.

Kishwaukee could not hold on in their final home game of 2016 as they lost to newly ranked #3 Elgin College (77-76).  The Kougars would play a good first half and force Elgin into some tough shots especially from the outside as the Spartans shot 25% from the floor and 12% from the 3pt line.  The Kougars would use a small run late in the half to push ahead (42-26) before allowing Elgin to finish the last 2 minutes on a mini 4-1 run to end the half behind by 13 points at (43-30).  Kishwaukee would shoot 53% from the floor while going (7-8) from the free throw line.  As the second half began the Spartans played much more aggressive by attacking the basket and working for shots at the basket.  They were also able to draw some fouls on Kishwaukee on these drives.  Elgin would chip away at Kishwaukee's lead throughout the second half and take as much as a six point lead late.  The Kougars would fight back but settle for perimeter shots too often on many important possessions down the stretch.  Kishwaukee would take the lead back at 76-74 with less than a minute to play but Elgin would bank a long 3-point basket in with just 5 seconds to play to finish the scoring for the game.  The Kougars would have five players reach double-figures in sophomore Malcolm Reed(Marquette HS) 17 points and 14 rebounds, followed by freshman guard Deshaun Jackson(Peoria HS) 17 points and 5 rebounds, sophomore forward JoVonte Peals(Marquette HS) 16 points and 9 rebounds, freshman point guard Rudy Lopez(Dekalb HS) 10 points and 5 rebounds, and sophomore point guard Bryson Butler(Lincoln Park HS) 10 points and 7 rebounds.  Kishwaukee will be on a 3-game road trip to finish out the Fall semester beginning with a game at Morton College this Saturday with a 3pm start.
