Kishwaukee gets back to winning by defeating DuPage 87-60

The slow starts finally stopped for Kishwaukee as they jumped on the visiting Chaparrals Tuesday night in the first half to take a 10-4 lead and never looked back.  Kishwaukee would use their pressure as well as good team passing to work for a first half lead on the College of DuPage and use a balanced attack to maintain it throughout the game.  Kishwaukee worked to force DuPage into 24 first half turnovers and create 30 points off of those turnovers to stake a 52-28 first half advantage.  Even with the large lead Kishwaukee would have a balanced attack with eight players scoring five or more points in the first half without having a single double figure scorer.  The Kougars would also have an assist on sixteen of their twenty-one first half baskets.  DuPage would begin the second half by taking much better care of the basketball but not be able to turn those possessions into points as Kishwaukee's defense was ready for the challenge.  Kishwaukee was only able to force six second half turnovers but did the job defensively holding DuPage to just 39% shooting.  The Kougars who were out rebounded in the first half by four would turn in around on the boards and win the rebounding battle in the second half 24-17.  The Kougars were able to maintain and even push the lead as all ten players saw double digit minutes in the win.  Kishwaukee would lead by as many as 35 points as they ended the game with an 87-60 victory.  The win was the 5th consecutive victory over the Chaparrals and ended Kishwaukee's brief 2-game losing streak.  The Kougars were led by sophomore forward Malcolm Reed(Marquette HS) with 24 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 assists; freshman guard Deshaun Jackson(Peoria HS) had 15 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists, and 3 steals; sophomore forward JoVonte Peals(Marquette HS) contributed 11 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals; and sophomore point guard Bryson Butler(Lincoln Park HS) finished with 11 points, 5 rebounds, 7 assists, and 2 steals.  The Kougars are back in action this Saturday afternoon at home against the College of Lake County with a 3pm game time.
