Kishwaukee losses on the road to Moraine Valley 91-84

The Kougars were back on the road Tuesday night against the reigning Skyway co-Champions and came up short with a 91-84 loss.  Kishwaukee(2-1) began slowly as they have done each of the first two games this season but was able to stay in the game early because of poor shooting by the Cyclones.  Kishwaukee's pressure began to pay dividends by forcing some turnovers and allowing the Kougars to get out in transition for some easy baskets.  Sophomore forward Malcolm Reed(Marquette HS) settled in and began finishing strong post ups for 16 first half points.  Kishwaukee was able to build a 16-point lead at 42-26 late in the 1st half before Moraine Valley made a late push to close the gap to 44-35 at half-time.  Coming out of half-time the Koguars would re-establish their lead with good defensive pressure and finishes at the basket to push their advantage to 59-40 half way through the 2nd half.  Moraine Valley would turn the tide as their defensive pressure and ability to cause turnovers and push them in to transition baskets would get them back into the game and take over the momentum.  After only converting on (2-12) 3pt shot in the 1st half the Cyclones would come out and shoot (6-12) in the second half to take a late lead in the game.  Kishwaukee's ball-handling errors and poor transition defense would cost them an opportunity to stay undefeated.  Moraine outscored Kishwaukee 56-40 in the second half to take the win.  Reed would lead the Kougars with 29 points along with 13 rebounds and 2 assists.  Sophomore point guard Bryson Butler(Lincoln Park HS) would add 18 points, 10 rebounds, and 8 assists while committing 6 turnovers.  The third Kougar to reach double figures was sophomore forward JoVonte Peals(Marquette HS) who contributed 12 points, 13 rebounds, and 4 blocked shots.  Kishwaukee will try to get back in the win column Saturday as they return home to face Prairie State at 3:00pm.
