Kishwaukee runs winning streak to 4 in a row as they defeat Olive-Harvey 91-87

Kishwaukee emerged from the Thanksgiving break with a big Region IV A win over Olive-Harvey College 91-87.  It was a hotly contested game with both teams playing at a fast tempo.  The Kougars would hold a small lead for most of the first half until the 14 minute mark as Kishwaukee would open up their lead to 13 points at 46-33 putting the visiting Panthers back on their heels.  The tables would quickly turn as Olive-Harvey would answer with a 10-1 run to end the half with momentum and cut the half-time deficit to just 4 points at 47-43.   Kishwaukee would see seven different player's score in the first half led by sophomore forward Malcolm Reed(Marquette HS) with 9points as well as sophomore point guard Bryson Butler(Lincoln Park HS) with 9 points and 8 assists.  The Kougars would regroup at half-time but face an aggressive pressing Panthers team looking to force more Kishwaukee turnovers.  Both teams would make small runs during the second half and each team did a good job of answering the other.  Olive-Harvey would take as much as a 3 point lead with just over six minutes to play but Kishwaukee moved the ball through Olive-Harvey's pressure to take back the lead.  Kishwaukee would rely on good free throw shooting down the stretch making 18 of 24 to help hold onto the lead.  The Panthers would answer as they crashed the offensive boards for 2nd chance points.  With Kishwaukee ahead by 2 points late sophomore guard Jarvis Ware(Oswego HS) would come up with a big steal in front of the Kougars bench with less than :36 seconds remaining to help ice the game for Kishwaukee.  With this victory the Kougars have defeated the Panthers for the 5th straight year.  The Kougars would put five players in double-figures on the afternoon led by sophomore guard Koko Songolo(Madisom Memorial HS) with 19 points, 2 assists, and 3 steals.  Reed would chip in 18 points & 5 rebounds.  Sophomore forward JoVonte Peals(Marquette HS) would add another double-double with 11 points, 11 rebounds, and 3 steals.  Butler would also have a double-double with 17 points, 14 assists, 8 rebounds, and 4 steals.  Completing the double figure scoring was freshman guard Deshaun Jackson(Peoria HS) with 11 points, 6 assists, and 3 steals.  Kishwaukee would get 31 points from its bench on the afternoon on (11-18) shooting.  The Kougars now take on the reigning NJCAA Division III National Champions & #1 ranked team in the country Rock Valley College next Tuesday night with a 7:30pm home game.
