Kishwaukee can’t overcome 1st half hole and lose to Prairie State 96-90

The Kougars continue to begin games slowly and Saturday's home contest was more of the same as visiting Prairie State jumped on Kishwaukee early.  Kishwaukee allowed the Pioneers to do whatever they wanted on both ends of the floor during the 1st 20 minutes of play.  Prairie State led by as many as 19-points late in the 1st half(53-34) by shooting 62.2% from the floor, 62.5% from the 3pt line and making all four of their free throws. Down by 17-points to begin the second half the Kougars woke up and cut the lead down to 12 points in the first 5 minutes.  Kishwaukee began attacking better in the full-court and getting to the basket in their half-court sets to get themselves into the bonus situation 6 minutes into the second half.  Prairie State would not go away battling on each possession.  Kishwaukee would keep chipping away at the lead until it whittled it down to just 2 points with 1:30 left in the game.  Kishwaukee would have a few chances to tie or even take the lead but couldn't not execute well enough to do so.  Kishwaukee would outscore Prairie State 52-41 in the second half while falling short of the victory.  The loss drops Kishwaukee to (2-2) on the season.  The Kougars were led by four players in double figures in sophomore point guard Bryson Butler(Chicago Lincoln Park HS) with 27 points, 11 rebounds, and 8 assists; freshman guard Deshaun Jackson(Peoria HS) 20 points, 3 rebounds, and 4 steals; sophomore forward Malcolm Reed(Marquette HS) 19 points and 9 rebounds; and sophomore forward JoVonte Peals(Marquette HS) 12 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 assists.  The Kougars continue on their 3-game homestand with another home game on Tuesday against the College of DuPage at 7:30pm.
