Kishwaukee Wins 2015 Arrowhead Conference Championship with a 78-60 road victory at Division I Highland College

 

 

The Kishwaukee men's basketball team won its 1st Arrowhead Conference Championship since 1997 with a 78-60 victory last Saturday. The road win was doubly sweet as it was against Highland College who has won the last 16 conference titles in a row. With the victory the Kougar's finished league play with a (10-2) conference record and also earn the season sweep over Highland. Many players played well in the victory including 6' 7" sophomore forward Andre Harris(Dekalb HS) 12pts, 14rebs, 4blks, and 3asts; 6' 4" sophomore guard Juwan Starks(West Aurora HS) 20pts, 5rebs, 2blks, and 2stls; 6' 0" freshman point guard Yashua Trent(Willowbrook HS) 21pts, 8rebs, 10asts and 6stls; 6' 5" sophomore forward Nygel Drury(Madison LaFollette HS WI.) 8pts, 9rebs, 2asts and 1blk. The Kougar's end the regular season with a (25-5) overall record and ranked #7 in the NJCAA Division II National Polls. Kishwaukee has been a top ten ranked team since December 2nd.

Kishwaukee earned the #3 seed in the Region IV post-season tournament and are rewarded with a home game on Thursday February 26th against #6 seed Prairie State College. The Kougar's are trying to win the Region IV title for the 3rd time in school history with the last time coming in 2010. After winning the Region IV Championship in 2010 Kishwaukee advanced to the NJCAA National Tournament and finished 6th place in the country.
