Kish Baseball score enough to get two close pitching duel wins

April 1, 2025 - The Kishwaukee College Baseball team, fresh off a weekend split versus Sandburg College in Galesburg, hosted the Chargers Tuesday in Malta. The Kougars would defeat Sandburg 2-1 in a pitching duel. John Schulte started the game for Kish and recorded all 21 outs in a CG allowing just three hits and one run over seven innings, striking out five and walking five.  After CSC scored in the top of the first, Kishwaukee captured the lead, 2-1, in the bottom of the fourth after a Jack Okun grounded out, and a Jackson Young single down the left field line, each scoring one run.  Young and Daelen Figueroa each collected two hits for Kish. Young went 2-for-3 at the plate while defensively the Kougars didn't commit a single error in the field.

Game two, was another tough pitching gem by both teams but the Kougars would prevail 1-0 to sweep the doubleheader.  Sophomore Will Baumgartner started the game for Kish and went the distance for the shutout victory.  The righty allowed three hits and zero runs over seven innings, striking out six and walking three. Kishwaukee grabbed an early lead scoring one run on a bases loaded RBI walk by Aiden Rodriguez in the second inning which would hold up for the win. Jack Okun went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead Kish in hits.

Kishwaukee (5-18 overall, 3-5 Arrowhead Conference) will next host Prairie State College on Friday (weather permitting) at 1:00 pm.
