Kougars take fifth over weekend JJC Volleyball Tourney

September 8, 2019  -  The Kishwaukee College Women's Volleyball team finished fifth out of sixteen teams at the tough Joliet Junior College Tournament this past weekend.  The Kougars would go 1-1 on Saturday, winning their first match in four sets against Southwestern Illinois College 25-22, 24-26, 28-26, 25-20.  Kish would lose the second match to Lincoln Trail CC.  Sunday saw Kishwaukee bounce back to win both matches in three straight sets versus Kaskaskia College and Oakton Community College to wrap up fifth place.  First three match totals included Alex Barrera (Mendota HS) with 26 digs, Alexis Orkfritz (Sycamore HS) 23 digs, Emily Eder (Woodstock North HS) with 94 assists, Abigail Ingraham (Hiawatha HS) with 15 digs, Kaylee Shetler (Morrison HS) 11 kills and 16 points and Sabrina Groce (Cornerstone Christian) added 13 digs 23 kills and 20 points.  Both Jeanette Brann (Genoa Kingston HS) who had 38 kills and 52 points and Lauren Kunke (Woodstock North HS) who had 78 digs going into the Oakton match were named to the All-Tournament Team.

Kishwaukee (6-5 overall, 1-0 Arrowhead Conference) will travel to Moline on Tuesday, September 10 at 6:00 pm versus conference foe Black Hawk College then will host St Ambrose University JV at Kish the following night September 11 beginning at 6:00 pm.
