
October 9, 2024 – The Kishwaukee College Womens Soccer team hosted Daley College Wednesday afternoon as part of Sophomore Day. Kish honored sophomores Abby Tarvestad (Rochelle HS), Emily Garcia (Rochelle HS), Kailey Harris (Rochelle HS), Natalie Delgado (DeKalb HS) and Mavi Avila (Rochelle HS) before the match with their families.
During the match the score was tied through halftime. But at the 25:47 mark of the second half, freshman Kara Martinez (Rochelle HS) carried through the left sideline and struck a shot that carried over the Daley goalkeeper to the upper right corner to make it 1-0 for Kish. Tight defense by freshman Zoe Nieves (Genoa Kingston HS), Addie Elshoff (DeKalb HS) and Sophia Zaccard (Genoa Kingston HS) plus offensive control by Lucy Monroy (Rochelle HS), Tracee Nelson (Byron HS), Natalie Delgado (DeKalb HS) and Diana Murrieta (DeKalb HS) kept Daley limited in scoring opportunities the second half. Freshman Tayla Brannstrom (Sycamore HS) picked up the win for the Kougars in goal having made three big shots midway in the second half and 10 overall.
Kishwaukee (1-8-1 overall) will travel to Chicago on Friday to take on Truman College.
