Lady Kougars complete inaugural season with late goal, finish in draw with Truman College

October 16, 2018 - The Kishwaukee College Women's Soccer team completed their inaugural season on Tuesday taking on visiting Harry S Truman College.  Truman scored first and took a 1-0 lead well into the second half.  However, a late rush by the Kougars right before the end of regulation time saw Monse Renteria score the tying marker with an assist from Herwine Lamelus.  The two teams went into an overtime period but good defense from Meghan Johnson, Jessica Gamez-QuinteroSarai Orozco, Sandy Aquino, Olivia NapiorkowskiAshley Kerns and Hope Akers as well as fine goal minding by Arianna Moore kept the score to a 1-1 draw.  Kishwaukee finished the year 3-10-1 and 1-3-1 at home.  Offensively on the season, Natalie Herrera led the team with 8 goals and 4 assists,  Monse Renteria added 4 goals and 2 assists while Lamelus tallied 3 goals and 2 assists, Sinclaire Baker had 3 goals, and Emma Rourke finished with 1 goal and 4 assists.  Dulce Resendiz had numerous defensive helpers and a few offensive asssists on the year and Avery Mertz was fifth in NJCAA Region IV with 94 saves on the season.  Coach Ludwig on the Kishwaukee College Women's team very first year in college history - "Although we would have loved to be in the playoffs in our first year as a program, we showed tremendous growth and character throughout the season, which has set a solid foundation on which the program can grow. Several of our games could have easily gone the other way in terms of winning results.  We are eager to compete for a regional playoff spot next year.  There's hard work ahead but I know the returning student-athletes will be putting in the time to get better towards that goal!"
