
April 1, 2025 - After losing two tough conference games 1-0 and 6-4 to Illinois Valley on Monday, the Kougars looked to bounce back Tuesday in another Arrowhead DH versus visiting Highland College. Game one would go to the Kougars as Kailey Goetz collected three hits in four at bats, as Kish would win by run rule 11-3. Goetz doubled in the third inning, doubled in the fifth inning, and singled in the sixth inning. Kyra Johnson singled to center field, which helped Kishwaukee tie the game at two in the bottom of the first. Kish flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the third, scoring five runs on five hits to take the lead, 7-3. The biggest blow in the inning was a double by Goetz that drove in two. Alyssa Wilkerson earned the win for the Kougars. The pitcher gave up five hits and three runs (two earned) over six innings, striking out four and walking two. Cameren Plowman took the loss for Highland Community College. Kishwaukee amassed 12 hits in the game. Johnson and Goetz were a one-two punch in the lineup, as each drove in three runs for Kish. Bella Koertner also collected two hits in four at bats. Koertner and Ana-Kate Phillips each stole multiple bases as the Kougs stole seven bases total in the game. Kishwaukee Kougars turned one double play in the game.
In game two, Ana-Kate Phillips drove in five runs on two hits to lead the Kougars past HCC 12-5 and sweep. Phillips doubled in the second inning, scoring three runs, and hit a home run to center field in the fifth inning, scoring two. Kailey Goetz doubled down the left field line to tie the game at one in the bottom of the first. Then Kish had a big bottom of the second, scoring six runs on three hits to take the lead, 7-1. The biggest blow in the inning was a double by Phillips that drove in three. The Kougs scored two more runs in the bottom of the fifth on a home run to center field by Phillips. Kyra Johnson earned the win for Kishwaukee. The starting pitcher gave up three hits and five runs (one earned) over seven innings, striking out seven and walking four. Johnson, Phillips, and Haley Von Schnase each collected two hits for Kish.
The Kougars (13-11 overall, 6-4 Arrowhead Conference) travel for a DH rematch with Black Hawk College Thursday then have a full slate of games over the weekend.
