Softball opens up at Rosemont Dome taking three of four games

March 2, 2025 - The Kishwaukee College softball team began the regular season with a four game NJCAA Region 4 round robin at the Rosemont Dome over the Friday and Saturday event.  Kish would go 3-1 overall. On Friday, the Kougars beat Joliet JC 17-1 and Prairie State 10-7.  Saturday saw the team defeat Oakton 9-2 but lose the finale 17-9 to DuPage.

Game 1 highlights included Sophomore Kyra Johnson (Kaneland HS) going 3-4 with a home run, Abby Stoffa (DeKalb HS) went 4-4, Bella Koertner (Oregon HS) had 3 RBI, Laila Anderson (Oregon HS) scored 3 runs, Kailey Goetz (Oswego HS) with 2 runs scored and Alyssa Wilkerson (Sycamore HS) picked up the win in the circle with 12 Ks. Game 2 highlights saw Ana-Kate Phillips (Dixon HS going 3-4, Haley Von Schnase (Sycamore HS) went 3-3 and Crystal Haack (Hiawatha HS) drove in 2 RBI.  Tyra Smith (Rockford-Harlem HS) had a hit and RBI as Kyra Johnson grabbed the win pitching with freshmen Kaylee Johnson (Kaneland HS) and Wilkerson handling late inning relief.  Game 3 Saturday opener vs Oakton Goetz had 3 RBI, Reilee Suter (Oregon HS went 2-4 with 2 runs scored, Von Schnase went 3-4 with 2 runs scored, Lillie Gebel (Stillman Valley HS) & Koertner had an RBI each.  Kyra Johnson gets the win pitching with 0 ER and 4 Ks.  Game 4 Koertner and Suter had 3 hits each, Phillips (5 RBI) and Kyra Johnson with 2 hits each, Anderson and Stoffa with a run scored each.  The Kougars will now prepare for their Florida spring trip which begins on March 8 through March 14.
