Softball starts strong but fade in losses to Chiefs

April 22, 2024 - The Kishwaukee Softball team travelled just down Interstate 88 for a matchup against Waubonsee CC Monday afternoon. In game one, the Kougars got off to a hot start with runs in the first, second and fourth innings to get out to a solid 6-2 lead.  Haley Trela and Erin Simmons had 2 hits and 2 RBI each while Jalyna Polichnowski (2 runs) and Kyra Johnson had two runs scored each.  However, against a good hitting team errors were the difference giving Waubonsee extra at bats on the way to a 16-6 victory over Kish.  Laila Anderson, Abby Stoffa and Alyssa Wilkerson also scored for the Kougars.  Game two saw Kish jump out after their half of the first inning with 3 runs but would allow 6 to WCC in the bottom of the inning plus another tough two innings in the third and fourth which led to a 13-5 loss for Kishwaukee. Haley Von Schnase, Polichnowski, Trela and Linnea Nelson scored Kougars' runs.

The Kougars move to 19-20 overall and will try and bounce back against Arrowhead Conference foe Sauk Valley CC at home Tuesday
