WSB run rules CSC game one, but fall in game two of DH

April 21, 2023 - The Kishwaukee College Softball team hosted an Arrowhead Conference doubleheader versus Carl Sandburg College Friday afternoon.  In game one, the Kougars would jump out to a 3-0 lead after their half of the first when an error plated Linnea Nelson from third, Mia Richards then sent a single through the left side of the infield to score Kendal Ansteth followed by a walk with the bases loaded by Kayla Wiedemann that plated Reese Ward. They would get two more in the third on a Kya Logston single to center that would score Jalyna Polichnowski and Ward. The final four runs came in tht fourth inning capped by a two run home run by Wiedemann.  Offensively, Kendal Ansteth had two hits to lead the Kougars while teammated Kayla Wiedemann had 3 RBI and Reese Ward scoring 3 runs.  Kya Logston was the winning pitcher going all seven innings striking out two while scattering just five hits.

In game two, Sandburg would have a 6-0 lead after the top of the third and Kishwaukee would fight back to tie it with three runs in the third and fifth each. However, the Chargers would manage three in their half of the sixth to win it 9-6.  Polichnowksi, Ansteth and Richards all had multiple hits in game two.  The Kougars away doubleheader at Harper College has been cancelled but Kankakee CC comes to Malta this Sunday with first pitch at noon.
