Softball splits on Day 3 of spring trip

March 21, 2013 - The Kishwaukee College Softball team was back in action Tuesday down in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina on day three of their spring trip.  After dropping game one to St Charles (MO) Community College, the Kougars bounced back in game two beating SUNY-Purchase 7-6 in extra innings.   Tied 5-5 going into the top of the 8th inning, Kendal Ansteth (Rochelle HS) tripled to get the rally started driving in Kya Logston (Byron HS), that had been placed at second in the extra inning rule.  Mia Richards (Sycamore HS) followed with one of her four hits in the game and what would turn out to be the game winning RBI driving in Ansteth.  Logston was the winning pitcher in the circle going all 8 innings giving up 1 earned run while striking out 2.  Kish was also aided by Logston going 2-4 at the plate with 2 RBI, Jalyna Polichnowski (Sycamore HS) 1-3 with a run scored, Eden Lindenmeyer (Amboy HS) 2-4 with a run scored and Linnea Nelson (Byron HS) with a hit and RBI.  Meanwhile, Kish teammates Samantha Koper (Oregon HS) , Kayla Wiedemann (Farmington Central HS) and Reese Ward (Sycamore HS) each added a hit to the attack. 

Polichnowski (2 hits), Richards (2 hits and 1 run), Logston, Ansteth and Lindenmeyer added hits in game one for the Kougars.

Kishwaukee (2-4 overall) will wrap up their spring trip schedule on Wednesday where they will again take on both St Charles CC and SUNY before heading home to get ready for an away DH on Tuesday, March 28 at 3:00 pm at Rock Valley College.  Kish will host their home opener against Arrowhead Conference rival Illinois Valley CC on Friday, March 31 with a 3:00 pm first game.
