Kish opens up season, spring trip with split

March 19, 2023 - The Kishwaukee College Softball team opened up their season down in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina in the Fastpitch Dreams Softball tournament Sunday.  It was also the opening day of their spring trip.  Kish would take an early lead against Alpena Community College in game one in the morning but would drop the opener 8-4.  The Kougars were led offensively by Jalyna Polichnowski who went 2-4, Kayla Wiedemann who went 1-3 and scored 2 runs, Mia Richards who went 1-3 with 2 RBI and Reese Ward that went 2-3 with a run scored.  Kendal Ansteth and Linnea Nelson added a hit to the Kish cause.  Kya Logston took the loss in the circle going 6 innings giving up just 3 earned runs while striking out 4.

In game two, Kish would take the lead early as well and wound up pushing ahead for good on an inside the park home run by Kya Logston. Logston went 2-4 on the game with 4 RBI and 2 runs scored, along with teammates Polichnowski that went 3-3 with 3 runs scored and 3 stolen bases plus Katie Taylor, Nelson, Richards and Wiedemann all adding a hit to the eventual 7-3 win for the Kougars.  Reese Ward got the win pitching going all 7 innings giving up 3 earned runs and striking out 8.

Kishwaukee (1-1 overall) will play two games on Monday with their first game against WVU Potomac State College at 9 am followed by Genesee Community College at 11 am
