Cross County commits ready for upcoming fall season

June 4, 2018 -  The Kishwaukee College Mens and Womens Cross Country teams have received a large number of commitments for the upcoming fall 2018 season.  The overall team roster is currently comprised of eleven runners with ten of them from the immediate area.  This will be the inaugural year for Womens Cross Country and the return, after a decades long absence, for the Mens team.  The season will start with the 5th Annual Hawks Invitational at Harper College on Saturday, August 25 at 9:00 am.  Other invites include the Elmhurst College Invitational Friday, August 31, the Aurora University Spartan Classic on Friday, September 7, the 37th Annual Augustana College Brissman-Lundeen Invitational on Friday, September 21, the St. Ambrose Fighting Bees Invite on Saturday, October 6 and culminates in the Region IV regional meet on Saturday, October 27 this year hosted at the College of Lake County in Grayslake, Illinois.  Meet this year's harriers and a brief note on each from the coaching staff:

 

Tania Barragan (DeKalb HS) -  Tania has expressed interest in taking a leadership role on the team.  She is one of our more seasoned runners that follows a disciplined nutrition program.

 

Andrew Brening (Genoa Kingston HS) -  Andrew began running cross country his junior year in high school and found a new passion.  He will add a lot to the team with his positive attitude and his integrity.

  

Grace Diedrich (DeKalb HS) - Grace brings an upbeat attitude and personality to the group and will help push the team to achieve.

 

Jaelynn Dunigan (Chicago Perspectives) - Jaelynn ran in both sprinting and middle distance events in high school; we are both excited to see her making the transition to cross country.

 

Russell Heibel (Genoa Kingston) -  Russell has a military background and will bring a maturity and focus to the team.

 

Brian Johnston (Sycamore) -  Brian experienced success in high school and will lend that experience to a diverse team looking to achieve success at the college-level.

 

Aly Moore (DeKalb) -  Aly is a strong middle and long distance runner and her speed will fit the courses we will run this year.   

 

Marylou Nunez (DeKalb) -  Marylou is a solid runner that is looking forward to getting back to competing at Kishwaukee against college competition.

 

Emily Plauck (Sycamore) -  Emily is a "go to" person.  She is committed to the team.  I am anxious to witness her development as a student and a runner.

  

Karrisa (Kari) Vieyra (DeKalb) -  Karrisa is a hard worker and a good listener that will help shape her into a successful college runner.

 

Luz Vasquez (Genoa Kingston):  Luz looks like she is in tip-top shape, I am ready to see what she's got!
