Kougars garner end of season recognition

November 29, 2021 - Members of the Kishwaukee College Men's Soccer team were recently recognized with end of season honors.  Sophomore goalie Victor Guerrero (DeKalb HS) and Sophomore teammate and Forward Andrew Leon (DeKalb HS) were recognized as part of the 2021-2022 NJCAA Region IV All Region Team - First Team.  Guerrero had 1.66 goals against average this past season with 57 saves while Leon had 14 goals, 9 assists, 37 points and 3 game winning goals in 14 games this season.

Additionally, three members of the team were selected to the inaugural Arrowhead Conference All Conference team this past season.  Freshman Forward Julian Garcia (DeKalb HS) was selected to the First Team while Guerrero and Sophomore Midfielder Tyler Scarbrough (DeKalb HS) were each selected to the Second Team.   Garcia had 4 goals in 3 games during conference play and 15 goals overall for the season in region play.  Scarbrough had 3 assists in conference play and 14 points overall in region play.

Kishwaukee finished 8-8 on the year to advance as the #4 seed to Regionals, however, would eventually lose to the #4 NJCAA nationally ranked Prairie State team in the postseason.  The Kougars took second place with a 2-1 record in the inaugural season of the Arrowhead Conference only losing to Carl Sandburg which qualified for the NJCAA National Tournament.

"Overall, it was a solid season," said Head Coach Colby Newquist, "I know the student athletes know what they have to do to take us to another level for next season.  The sophomores will defintely be missed but the Freshmen now have a taste for success, and I look forward to them setting the bar high with expectations and hard work for 2022!"
