2020-2021 Esports season draws to a close

April 13, 2021 - The Kishwaukee College Esports team season came to a close as the spring semester playoff selections were announced.   Numerous Kougar athletes had excellent spring semester season results but came up a little short on playoff selections.  This included, Chase Littlefield (DeKalb HS) in Hearthstone who qualified for fall semester playoffs and again went 8-2 this spring but was, unfortunately, not selected as the spots went to athletes that finished 9-0 and 8-1.  Josh Sunderlage (Hiawatha HS) in Smash Bros Ultimate finished 7-3 and just missed a selection.  Branden Aldred (Sycamore HS), Allen Bredeson (DeKalb HS) and Littlefield made up a solid Call of Duty team that finished 7-3 on the spring season but was just outside those that qualified for the NJCAAE Esports playoffs.  Jack Sunderlage (Kirkland HS) also had a very good spring season in Smash Bros Ultimate but did not quite get into the postseason.  Coach Hixon on the spring semester portion of the season and the overall inaugural Kish Esports year:

"This season, by far, was a great season. From day one of practice and competitions all athletes have improved as individuals and as team. There were exciting moments, frustrating moments, and numerous moments of bonding even though it was another remote spring semester season due to COVID protocols and guidelines. My student athletes overcame the barriers to become part of the Kish Esports and Athletics Family!  We are all looking forward to the start of fall 2021 semester season as we bring in new 2021 graduating high school seniors plus other new recruits to join our talented returning roster of students and then get a chance to break in our new Esports Arena on campus!"
