February 24, 2025 - The Kishwaukee College Baseball team is set to begin their 2024-2025 season this Saturday March 1. Head Coach Joe Maskivish enters his second year at the helm, supported by assistant coaches Jeff Marcley and Ryan Gillfillan. Leading the Kougars are sophomore captains Daelen Figueroa, Lenox Estremera, and Will Baumgartner. Figueroa, coming off a strong fall, will anchor the infield and set the tone at the plate. Baumgartner, who will play at Monmouth College next year, led the team in on-base percentage and was third in innings pitched last season. Freshmen pitchers PJ Patrick Jasinski and Alex Prince are expected to play crucial roles in solidifying the young staff. "Throwing strikes, making routine plays, and utilizing our speed will be the recipe for success this season," stated Maskivish, emphasizing the team's focus on continued improvement. Kish will open on the road in Alton, Illinois versus Lewis and Clark College and East Central (MO) College over the March 1st weekend. They will go on their annual southern swing through Tennessee to take on perennial top ranked teams in Volunteer State CC, Motlow State CC and Columbia State CC before returning home to take on the tough Region 4 schedule that includes such teams as South Suburban, Waubonsee, McHenry County College, and Milwaukee Area Tech. The Kougars will also have to battle through their tough Arrowhead Conference home and away DH action against Black Hawk, Highland CC Illinois Valley, Sandburg College and Sauk Valley CC.
