Baseball takes one of two from Illinois Valley

April 19, 2024 - The Kish Kougars Baseball team hit the road Friday to play Illinois Valley CC in Arrowhead Conference play and came away with a split of the doubleheader.  IVCC won game one 9-7 while Kish came back with a vengeance with a 20-6 victory.  In game one, the Kougars held a 7-6 lead going into the sixth but the Eagles would get 3 unanswered runs in the bottom of the inning to get the win.  Lenox Estremera had 2 hits, Gabe Lopez 2 RBI and Forrest Gerber a hit and an RBI.  Teammates Will Baumgartner, Sawyer Eccles, Tommy Gargano, Zach Cantu and Adam Raclawski each scored a run.  Sam Genslinger started on the mound giving up just 3 earned runs while Cameron Knapp held the Eagles to 2 earned runs and Alec Rosa got the final two outs. 

Game two saw the Kougars lead 5-2 after two innings and never looked back culminating in a nine run seventh for the victory.  Aiden Rodriguez (3 hits, 3 RBI), Eccles (4 hits, 3 RBI), Gargano (3 runs, 3 RBI), Dean Rizzo (3 hits, 4 runs), Noah Lara (3 hits, 2 runs) and Kevin Marshall (3 runs, 3 RBI) powered the Kish offense.  Will Baumgartner went 6 innings giving up 4 earned and striking out 4 while Reese Kirk went the final frame giving up 1 earned run and striking out 1. 

Kishwaukee is now 7-24 overall and 2-9 in Arrowhead Conference play.  They will travel again Saturday to play Sauk Valley CC in Dixon then return home Sunday to play Kennedy King College both will be doubleheaders.
