BACK-TO-BACK! Chargers Sweep Kishwaukee, Repeat as Arrowhead Conference Champs

KISHWAUKEE — The Carl Sandburg College volleyball team is once again on top of the Arrowhead Conference.

The Chargers clinched back-to-back conference titles with a 25-16, 25-12, 25-12 sweep at Kishwaukee on Tuesday night. Sandburg shares the crown with Sauk Valley after each finished with 9-1 league records.

It's the 10th conference championship in program history (1982, 1984, 1985, 1986, 1987, 1990, 2018, 2019, 2022 and 2023) and fourth in the past six years for the Chargers, who now stand at 25-14 overall this season. It's also the fifth time Sandburg has repeated as the Arrowhead champion.

Sophomore outside hitter Addison DeSpain totaled a team-leading 11 kills in the victory, and she had a team-high four of the Chargers' 10 aces in the match. Setter Grace Vyhnanek had six kills and 26 assists.

Libero Madeline Mooney picked up 19 digs, and freshman middle Ayla Cannon had four blocks (three of them solo) on the night.
