Chargers Cruise by Kishwaukee for 16th Straight Conference Win

GALESBURG — The Carl Sandburg College volleyball team remained unbeaten at home and in the Arrowhead Conference with a 25-7, 25-9, 25-5 shellacking of Kishwaukee on Tuesday night at John Lewis Gym.

The Chargers (17-8, 5-0) won their 16th consecutive conference matches while also extending their home winning streak to 16 in a row.

Sandburg's only deficit of the night came on the first point of the third set. The Chargers hit .385 for the match, including a .722 mark in the third as they racked up 13 kills on 18 attempts and no errors.

Nine Chargers had at least one kill in the victory, led by a dozen from freshman Ayla Cannon. Cannon had 12 kills and a .611 percentage while also picking three blocks and an ace.

Addison DeSpain, Grace Evans and Grace Vyhnanek each had four kills for Sandburg. Natalie Burden and Lillian Isenhour totaled three kills apiece. Burden served six of the Chargers' 12 aces in the sweep.

Vyhnanek had 26 assists, and Madeline Mooney led Sandburg defensively with 16 digs. DeSpain and Lauren Powell chipped in with eight digs each.
