Sandburg Men End Game on Tie-breaking 12-0 Run to Get Past Kishwaukee

GALESBURG — The Carl Sandburg College men's basketball team scored the game's last dozen points to finish off Kishwaukee in a 70-58 Arrowhead Conference victory Thursday night at John Lewis Gym. 

KEY MOMENTS
• Sandburg (11-9, 1-1) trailed 53-49 midway through the second half before a 6-0 run to take the lead. David Hise tied the game with a layup, and Easten Schisler's leaner in the lane put Sandburg up 53-55 with 7:50 left.
• The Kougars tied the game at 58-58 with 5:00 to go, but the Chargers held Kishwaukee scoreless for the remainder of the game. Logan Sluder found Roee Dinnar at the top of the key for the go-ahead 3-pointer with 2:50 left to kickstart a 12-0 closing run. That would be the final lead change in a game that saw nine ties and 19 lead changes.
David Hise's rebound basket at 1:50 gave Sandburg a 63-58 advantage. Koen Derry followed by collecting three offensive rebounds on his way to a three-point play with :48.4 left to bulge the Chargers' lead to 66-58. Sluder knocked in four free throws in the final :30 for the final score.

SANDBURG STANDOUT
Hise scored 21 points to lead all players on an efficient 9-of-11 shooting. The sophomore also led the Chargers with seven rebounds, including four on the offensive end. It was Hise's second 20-point contest of the season. He had a career-high 24 in the Chargers' opener against St. Ambrose JV.
