The Kishwaukee College women’s volleyball team participated in the third installment of the Champions Read program at Malta Elementary. The Kougars read The Fall Leaf Project and Peter’s Dream to two first grade classrooms and all of the students took home a copy of Peter’s Dream.

                The Champions Read program is a part of the Kishwaukee College Department of Athletics Champions in the Community service platform. Kougar athletes will visit and read to the first grade classrooms five times during the school year and provide them with individual copies of the books, Champions Read bookmarks and season passes to Kougar events. Kishwaukee athletics partners with Jude Wilbers and Brian Wynn of Thrivent Financial of DeKalb to sponsor the Champions Read program.

                During this school year, Kishwaukee athletes have a 100% participation rate in the Champions in the Community program and have logged at least 7 hours each, totaling over 600 hours served.
