The Kishwaukee Kougars women’s basketball team participated in the 5^th installment of the Champions Read program at Malta Elementary School. The Kougars read Rosie’s Special Surprise to the 52 first grade students and provided each of them a copy of the book to take home, as well as a copy for each classroom.

This was the 5^th and final installment of the inaugural year of the Champions Read program. For the year, 90 student athletes visited the first grade classes at Malta Elementary School, read to them, and provided the students and school with over 250 books.

                The Champions Read program is part of the Kishwaukee College Athletic Department’s Champions in the Community service platform. The Champions Read program is done in partnership with Thrivent Financial of DeKalb. To date, the Kougars of Kishwaukee College have completed over 1300 hours serving the DeKalb, Sycamore and surrounding communities.
