Kishwaukee Kicks off Champions Read Program

Members of the Kishwaukee College softball team kicked off the Champions Read program at Malta Elementary School on Friday, Sept. 25th. The Champions Read Program is part of the Kishwaukee athletic department’s Champions in the Community Program.

As part of the Champions Read program, members of each sport will visit the two first grade classrooms at Malta Elementary and read to each student. Each student also receives a copy of the book that was read to them, as well as a Champions Read bookmark. On the first visit, each child was given a schedule poster and two season passes to the Kougar indoor sports for their parents.

The Champions read program is sponsored by the Kishwaukee College athletic department through a partnership with Jude Wilbers and Brian Wynn from Thrivent Financial and the Thrivent Financial Action Team Projects.

The Next Champions Read event will be on Oct. 23rd and will include members of the Kishwaukee baseball team.
