As the second event of the Champions Read program, the Kishwaukee Kougar baseball team travelled to Malta Elementary School to read to fifty-three first grade students. The students were read Curious George Plants a Seed and all students were given a copy of the book and a Champions Read bookmark.
The Champions Read program is part of the Kishwaukee athletic department’s Champions in the Community platform. Champions in the Community is the service program that all Kougar athletes participate in, throughout their time at Kishwaukee College. Service hours are tracked for the year on the Helper Helper platform. So far the Kougars have logged over 250 hours of community service, putting them amongst the top service schools in the country.
Champions Read is a partnership with Thrivent Financial of DeKalb, IL. The Kougar volleyball team will be reading at Malta Elementary School on Nov. 13th.
