Oakton defeats Kougars Womens Soccer with late PK

September 6, 2019 - The Kishwaukee Kougars womens soccer team played a tight match versus the visiting Oakton Owls Friday afternoon in Malta.  Oakton would score first as the first half was drawing near.  Kish would get even with a marker by Litzy Murrieta (DeKalb HS) to tie the score 1-1.  However, with four minutes left a penalty kick goal by Oakton gave them the 2-1 win.  Avery Mertz (DeKalb HS) was strong again in goal for the Kougars while Meghan Johnson (Aurora Central Catholic), Hope Akers (DeKalb), Jessica Gamez-Quintero (DeKalb HS) and Sarai Orozco (Genoa Kingston HS) turned away the Owl attacks all afternoon.  Emma Rourke (DeKalb HS), Herwine Lamelus (Port Au Prince), Abigail Aquino (DeKalb HS) and Amanda Ortiz-Beckett (DeKalb HS) put solid pressure in the offensive end of the field but the Owl goal keep was up to the task.

Kishwaukee is now 1-3 overall and will prepare for their Homecoming match in Malta next Saturday, September 14 with an 11:00 kick-off.
