Culver Stockton College Invite proves to be a good course for Kish Women’s Golfers

September 28, 2020 – The Kougars Women's Golf team travelled to Quincy, Illinois to compete against a number of four-year colleges in the Culver Stockton College Invite at Spring Lake Country Club.  Jillian Fuchs tied for 12th place with a 108 total score.  Haleigh Peterson took 21st out of the large field with a 117 on the day.  Fuchs and Peterson competed against athletes from host Culver Stockton College, Hannibal-LaGrange University, Central Methodist University and Columbia College.

Coach Brennan on the results – "I am really pleased with how the ladies played today!  Both of them didn't have any high numbers on their scorecards and had multiple birdies and pars.  It was a big step forward with the golf ball striking and putting as I am seeing the progression of our two golfers.  Playing against four-year competition gives the student athletes a taste of what they'll see at the next level in college beyond Kish.  In addition, these types of events challenge them to see that they can hold their own as first year freshman.  Today many of those they competed against were juniors and seniors in college.  I want this to be an experience for our golfers and to see for themselves they may have a chance to join four-year college and university teams in future years as they continue to put the hard work in."

The Women's team closes out the fall portion of the season October 7 at Danville Country Club before they return in late March and April for the spring golf season.
