Lady Pioneers derailed by Kougars

December 17, 2019 - The Lady Kougars got back in action after having not played in a week as they took the trip to Chicago Heights to take on Prairie State College.  Kish was able to get out to an early ten point first quarter lead behind early scoring from Addie Kitzmiller and Dennysha Kizer while Rylee Abraham (7 rebounds. 2 steals) secured missed PSC shots along with Lani Morris (6 points) rebounding off the bench.  The Pioneers matched the Kougars in quarter number two in points scored as Lauren Kawall (4 assists) beat the halftime buzzer with a right corner three point shot to keep Kish with a ten point lead going into the locker room at 38-28.  Kishwaukee pushed the lead to 22 by end of the third quarter with Alexis Keating (5 assists, 8 rebounds) contributing a number of her assists and as Keating and Kawall kept finding quick outlets up the floor to teammates for easy transition buckets.  Morgan Baker and Cesca Vardman added the final touches in scoring along with a Taylor Weymouth deuce in the fourth on the way to a 83-61 final.  Kitzmiller led the way for the Kougars with 20 points while Baker had a double-double night with 17 points and 13 rebounds.  Vardman put in 12 points and Kizer chipped in another 12 points and 8 rebounds.  Kish outrebounded Prairie State 62-37 on the night while also edging PSC in second chance points 16-0.

Kishwaukee (3-7 overall) will be on the road again this Thursday, December 19 at Elgin Community College with tip-off at 5:00 pm then return to Malta for a final home contest against Morton College at 1:00 pm before they head into the holiday break.
