Kishwaukee Womens Basketball sucessful on the court and in raising awareness in Pink Zone event

February 7, 2019 – The Kishwaukee College Women's Basketball team defeated visiting Illinois Valley 57-50 in Malta on Tuesday.  The Kougars had a balanced attack with Morgan Baker leading the way with 10 points.  Abigail Kerns (9 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists), Cayla Winters (8 points, block) and Cesca Vardman (8 points, 4 steals).  Dennysha Kizer led the team with 14 rebounds and Rashel Robinson 8 while Ashley Kerns also added 6 points.

It also marked the second year in a row the team hosted a successful Pink Zone event to raise money for the Kay Yow Foundation. The former North Carolina State Women's Basketball and Naismith Hall of Fame coach was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 1987. She passed away in 2009, after a 22-year, on-again, off-again battle with the disease. Coach Yow fought that battle in the public arena. Her hope was to inspire others to make a difference in a fight that impacts each and every one of us.

Kishwaukee (7-16 overall, 2-3 in Arrowhead Conference) will next play two conference matchups first Tuesday, February 12 at Black Hawk College before returning home on Thursday, February 14 to take on another Arrowhead Conference foe Highland Community College at 5:30 pm.
