Kougs fight back take game two versus IVCC

April 9, 2024 - The Kishwaukee College Softball team went on the road Tuesday to battle Illinois Valley CC in an important Arrowhead Conference doubleheader.  Kish would have a slow hitting start in game one off solid pitching by the Eagles which held them two just two runs in a 6-2 loss. Linnea Nelson (RBI) picked up two of the Kougars 5 hits while Jalyna Polichnowski and Haley Trela had a hit and run scored each.

Kish would do the exact opposite in game two with a quick start as they jumped to an eight run lead in the top of the first inning. They would fall behind after five innings and finally plate three in their half of the sixth to win 11-10 and earn a split. Kyra Johnson battled over four innings in the circle to keep Kish in the game, giving way to Alyssa Owen who held IVCC over two strong innings to get the win and Alyssa Wilkerson saved it in the seventh.  Polichnowksi and Haley Von Schnase had three hits each while Kougars teammates Nelson, Johnson and Owen had two hits each.  Laila Anderson (2 BB, run), Abby Stoffa (hit, run), Erin Simmons (hit, 2 runs) and Trela (hit, run) aided the Kish offensive attack.

Kishwaukee moves to 8-15 overall and 3-5 in the Arrowhead Conference.  They will look to host Carl Sandburg College on Thursday, weather permitting, then travel to Morton College on Friday.
