Kougars softball split DH versus #4 Joliet

 

April 15, 2019 – The Kishwaukee College women's softball team travelled to Joliet Monday for a snowy April doubleheader.  In game one, the Kougars jumped out to a 4-0 lead after their first at bat.  Joliet would score 2 in their half of the first as well but Kish would hold on for a hard fought 5-3 victory over the #4 NJCAA DIII ranked Wolves.  Hailey White (run, stolen base) and Taelor Schmitz (RBI, run, stolen bae) each had a pair of hits to lead Kishwaukee with Megan Antos, Helena Porter and Alexis Gordon garnering hits as well.  Shaylee Clow (2) and Faith Roush plated runs.  Larisa Smits (1 for 3, RBI) pitched all seven innings to pick up the win allowing 3 earned runs while striking out 7.

 

In game two, JJC would score 3 times in their half of the first and second innings on their way to a run rule victory.  Antos (double) and White each had a pair of hits for the Kougars while Smits drove in the lone Kish run. 

 

Kishwaukee (6-15 overall, 1-9 Arrowhead Conference) will travel to Galesburg on Tuesday against Carl Sandburg College then return home Thursday, April 18 against Illinois Valley with first pitch of the doubleheader at 3:00 pm.
