The program has made two postseason appearances in the Region IV tournament, being eliminated by Prairie State College in 2021 by a score of 3-0 in the first round and tying Prairie State in the 2023 semifinal round in regulation before losing 9-8 in penalty kicks.

Newquist led the program to its first Arrowhead Conference title in 2023.

Before coaching at Kishwaukee College, Newquist served as the boys' assistant varsity coach and the girls' assistant JV coach at Kaneland High School. Additionally, he was the assistant head coach for the UPSL team Aurora Borealis in 2017.

Newquist enjoyed a long playing career, which included playing for the Kougar's and captaining the only team in program history to make a Region IV final appearance. During his time at Kish, Newquist served as the program captain in his sophomore year, scoring 19 goals and racking up 15 assists along the way. He earned Region IV 1st Team All-Region honors during his sophomore year and was nominated for Student-Athlete of the Year. After Kish, Newquist had a short stint playing with the NIU Men's Soccer program before joining the Aurora University men's soccer program.

After graduating from Aurora University in 2013, Newquist played for the amateur professional team Aurora Borealis, which participated in the UPSL and US Lamar Hunter Open Cup. He went on to co-found DeKalb County United and captained the team in their inaugural season in the UPSL.

Newquist currently holds his USSF 'F' license and his FA Wales Football Leaders and FA Wales Talent Identification Certifications.
