Matt Long became head coach of the Kougars in April 2024.  Prior to Kishwaukee, Coach Long was an assistant coach for five years at Illinois Central College in East Peoria Illinois under the tutelage of twenty-four (24) year veteran head coach, and former University of Illinois Standout, Tony Wysinger.  Coach Long was the lead assistant coach for two years assisting heavily with recruitment while also handling daily operations of the team including running some practices and games.   He has also participated as a coach in numerous college camps including the Nike / USA Basketball Camp, Marquette University Camp and Shaun Livingston Camps while also acquiring coaching knowledge from his NABC coaching circles including Roy Williams and Porter Moser.

A multi-sport athlete at Richwoods High School, Long played for ICC from 2014-2017, and then attended UNC-Charlotte to finish his academic career. He alreceived a bachelor's degree in General Studies, while minoring in psychology, from Southern New Hampshire University. Coach Long also has served as a Head Coach within the MidPro Academy (AAU).
