Kishwaukee Mens Basketball open up first week of games with 2-1 record

November 11, 2018 - The Kishwaukee Men's Basketball team opened up regular season play this past week with three games.  In the first game of the season, Kish went on the road to Palatine and defeated Harper College 89-55.  The Kougars opened up a sizable lead at halftime 45-21 and were led in scoring by Caleb Gould with 23 points.  Luke Davis (20 points, 13 rebounds) and Kionne Layne (14 points) also had good games offensively.  Robert Johnson added 15 rebounds on the game.

Kish opened up the home schedule with a hard fought game on Tuesday, November 6 against nationally ranked #10 Rock Valley College.   At halftime the score was close at 33-29 and by the 8:00 mark of the second half Kishwaukee had a six point lead.  Unfortunately, Rock Valley pulled the game out in the end with a 72-58 win.  The Kougars had three players in double digit scoring as Kionne Layne contributed 14 points, Caleb Gould 12 points and Marshawn Phillips had 11 points.  Robert Johnson and Martinez Lenyoun led the team in rebounds on the night with 16 and 9 respectively.

Kishwaukee bounced back on Saturday, November 10 with a convincing 87-73 victory over visiting Prairie State College.  In the win, Kish had five players in double digit scoring including Luke Davis (20 points), Robert Johnson (18), Caleb Gould (17), Marshawn Phillips (13) and Anathi Davis-Peal (11).  The Kougars (2-1 overall) will travel to Palos Hills to face Moraine Valley Community College on Tuesday, November 13 with a start time of 7:15 pm before returning home for a matchup against the College of Lake County on Saturday, November 17 with tip-off at 3:00 pm.
