Kishwaukee wins overtime thriller 85-83 against Bryant & Stratton(WI)

Kishwaukee pulled out a hard fought and much needed win over the visiting Bobcats of Bryant & Stratton College 85-83 in overtime Tuesday night in Malta.  It was a back and forth game most of the night with Bryant & Stratton jumping out to a (7-4) early lead.  Kishwaukee would go on a run to take back the lead with strong outside shooting to go ahead (12-7) only to see the Bobcats to respond with a run of their own to lead at (20-12).  That would be the largest lead for either team all night long.  Although Kishwaukee was out-sized and out manned by the taller & deeper Bryant & Stratton team they would battle through the 1st half with some of their better defense of the season.  Kishwaukee would work to gain a (35-33) lead with less than a minute to go in the half only to see the Bobcats hit one of their four 3pt baskets in the game as time expired to retake the lead into half-time at (36-35).  The Kougars would only have four players score in the first half lead by sophomore guard Dallas McClain(Decatur MacArthur HS) with 13 points and 3 assists.  Freshman guard Caleb Gould(Rochelle HS) would chip in 8 points with 4 rebounds, while both sophomore point guard Rudy Lopez(Dekalb HS) would added 7 points and 4 assists, and freshman guard Landon Griffith(Rochelle HS) would also score 7 points with 4 rebounds at the half.  The Kougars & the Bobcats would continue to go back and forth during the second half with each team taking small leads. There would be 13 lead changes and 11 ties during the second half alone.  The game would come down to the final play with :24 seconds left to play.  Kishwaukee would call a timeout and run a set play where they got a secondary option and a good look at the basket but were unable to make the shot as time expired.  This game would be settled in overtime.  It would be Kishwaukee's first overtime game of the year and Bryant & Stratton's second overtime game in the last four days.  In the overtime session Kishwaukee would only make 1 field goal to Bryant & Stratton's four but cash in at the free throw line for 11 points from the charity stripe to be able to pull out the victory (85-83).  Leading the way for Kishwaukee was Gould with a game high 20 points as well as a game high 12 rebounds, which was followed by 19 points & 7 assists from Lopez, 18 points & a team high 8 assists from McClain, and 14 points & 9 rebounds from Griffith. Freshman forward Keyshawn Stallworth(Sycamore HS) would score all 10 of his points including going 5-of-6 from the free throw line in the second half and overtime.  Stallworth would also share team high with 12 rebounds on the night.  Kishwaukee will be back in action Saturday afternoon with a 3pm tip against national power and #5 nationally ranked South Suburban College on Kishwaukee's campus.
