Kishwaukee drops season opener on the road at Rock Valley 78-62.

The Kishwaukee men's basketball team lost its season opener at Region IV power Rock Valley College 78-62.  The Kougars played a good first half with the Golden Eagles as they trailed by only 3 points (37-34) at intermission.  Freshman guard Dominique Jones(Michigan City HS) would lead Kishwaukee with 8 points off the bench in the first half followed by 7pts from sophomore Rudy Lopez(Dekalb HS), and 6 points from sophomore Luke Davis(Dekalb HS).  A big disadvantage for the Kougars was not earning a free throw attempt during the entire first 20 minutes of play.  Kishwaukee would strike first at the start of the second half with a dunk from freshman Treyson Johnson(Chicago Perspectives HS) to cut the lead to just 1 point but Rock Valley would push its lead to double digits not to long after that and keep the Kougars chasing the rest of the half.  Kishwaukee would never make a strong enough run to challenge Rock Valley in the end.  Kishwaukee would be led by only two double digit scorers in Lopez with 10 points and sophomore Troy Johnson(Chicago Hope HS) with 11 points.  Davis & Treyson Johnson would both snare 6 rebounds apiece for Kishwaukee.  The Kougars will look for their first win of the season next Tuesday night on the road at 7pm at the College of DuPage.
