Kishwaukee outlasts Carl Sandburg 99-95 for the overtime win.

It took five extra minutes to decide the final Arrowhead Conference contest of the season between Kishwaukee & Carl Sandburg.  It was a truly back and forth affair as there were 15 lead changes and 19 ties throughout the game.  Neither team jumped too far out in front as Kishwaukee's largest lead was just 5 points early in the first half while Carl Sandburg took a slim 1 point advantage into half-time.  The Kougars took good care of the ball all game long with only 5 first half turnovers and finished with just 9 for the game.  The Chargers would shoot well from outside connecting on 10 of 24 3pt shots in the game but would miss both opportunities during the overtime session.  After starting slow in the first half and being behind 6-0 in team fouls during the second half Kishwaukee would come back and outshoot the Chargers 35 to 27 from the foul line while also finishing plus 4 makes in the game.  The game would be very tight down the stretch and in the overtime session as both teams went back and forth with slim leads.  Kishwaukee would repeatedly attack the basket and get to the free throw line during the final 2 minutes of the overtime session but couldn't ice the game away because of 3 missed attempts.  With 25 seconds remaining Kishwaukee would miss again but sophomore point guard Bryson Butler(Lincoln Park HS) would slice into the lane to steal the offensive rebound and then be fouled.  Butler would make both free throws to put Kishwaukee up by the final margin (99-95) and complete the scoring for the game.  With the win the Kougar stay above the .500 mark and move to (15-14) on the season.  Kishwaukee would have (3) players finish with double-doubles led by Butlers game high 33 points, 10 rebounds, to go along with 8 assists and 3 steals.  Also coming up big with double-doubles was sophomore forwards Malcolm Reed(Marquette HS) with 13 points and 10 rebounds along with fellow sophomore forward JoVonte Peals(Marquette HS) 18 points and 11 rebounds.  The Kougars would have all eight players who suited up score in the game including strong contributions from sophomore guard Koko Songolo(Madison Memorial HS) with 12 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists and sophomore guard Ryan Reeder(Mendota HS) with 7 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists, 2blocks, and 3 steals.  Kishwaukee will finish the regular season with a home game against Truman College this Saturday.  This will be our "Sophomore Night" game where all (7) Kishwaukee sophomore basketball players will be recognized before the start of the 3pm game.  After Saturday's game the Kougars will head into the Region IV play-offs on Thursday March 2nd
