Kishwaukee earns season sweep over Black Hawk College with an 81-73 home win.

Kishwaukee earned their 14th win of the season and a season sweep of conference and region foe Black Hawk College with an 81-73 win last night.   Back in January the Kougars defeated the Braves 78-73 in Moline.  Kishwaukee and Black Hawk would play back and forth during most of the first half with both teams getting and giving up control of the game.  Kishwaukee would find themselves down by as many as 10 points late in the half but make a 12-5 run to close out the first 20 minutes of play to only be down 37-34 at the break.  Kishwaukee would erase the small lead and work to hold a small lead of their own quickly as the second half began.  After committing 11 turnovers in the first half the Kougars would only cough the ball up 3 times in the second half.  Limiting their turnovers along with better team defense would be the key in earning the victory for Kishwaukee.  The Kougars would shoot over 50% from the floor in both halves highlighted by a 55.2% showing in the second.  The Braves would make 15 out of 32 shots exactly in each half but drop from 38.5% to 16.7% from behind the 3pt arc in the second half.  The Kougars were led by sophomore point guard Bryson Butler(Lincoln Park HS) with a team high 25 points, 8 rebounds, 9 assists, 2 blocks, and 2 steals.  Both forwards for Kishwaukee would also reach double-figures in the scoring column with sophomore Malcolm Reed(Marquette HS) scoring 17 points to go with 6 rebounds and sophomore JoVonte Peals(Marquette HS) reaching 14 points and 8 rebounds.  The Kougars would also receive strong contributions from their bench as they would score 13 points and collect 8 rebounds while holding the Braves entire bench scoreless in the game.  Kishwaukee will continue on in conference play next week as they go on the road to conference leader Highland College next Tuesday night with a 7pm game time.
