Kishwaukee drops season series with Illinois Valley 79-70.

The Kishwaukee men's basketball team began the second round of Arrowhead Conference play the same they began it almost a month ago with a loss to Illinois Valley College by the score of (79-70).  Kishwaukee would start the game on a good note with good team defense forcing Illinois Valley to use most of their shot clock to find an open shot.  The Eagles did a good job of staying patient and waiting for their point guard to get open late to hit multiple big 3pt baskets to keep them on the scoreboard.  The Kougars would respond by executing their offense and finishing plays around the basket to jump ahead (9-3) early.  It would be back and forth from then on until the half-time horn sounded.  Illinois Valley would take a 1pt lead into the locker room up (38-37).  The Kougars could never do quite enough to fully get in control of the game but was able to take a 4pt lead five minutes into the second half.  The lead was short lived as the Eagles would come back and take their own small lead with strong offensive rebounds and taking advantage of Kishwaukee fouls.  It would be a 2 or 3 possession game throughout the second half with the Kougars trailing until a small run late would get the Kougars back to within 2pts at (72-70).  Kishwaukee couldn't get the stops they needed and had to foul forcing the Eagles to the free throw line late which provided the final score of (79-70).  Sophomores Malcolm Reed(Marquette HS) and Bryson Butler(Lincoln Park HS) would each finish with 15pts, while fellow sophomore guard Javaris Ware(Oswego East HS) would be the only other Kougar to reach double-figures with 10 points.  Kishwaukee will continue in conference play with a 7:30pm home game on Thursday against Black Hawk College.
