Kishwaukee breaks losing streak with road win at Black Hawk 78-73

Kishwaukee finally broke out of its slump with a 78-73 road win over Conference and Region IV foe Black Hawk College.  The Kougars were behind early as Black Hawk jumped out to an early lead (20-11) in the first half.  The Braves shot the ball well and moved the ball very well on the offense end and were able to build a sizeable (44-25) lead late in the 1st half.  Kishwaukee would wake up and begin chipping away at Black Hawk's lead a finish the first half on a 8-0 run to trail by just 11 points at half-time (44-33).  The Kougars would get back into the game and revive a hibernating defense that has been missing for many games.  The Kougars would also take advantage of a strong second half offensively shooting 54.2% from the floor, 57.1% from the 3pt line, and 75% from the FT line.  The Kougars battled all the way back to take a small lead with just over 3 minutes left in regulation.  Quality defensive stops paired with a great night at the free throw line(26-32) helped hold off the Braves on their home court.  Kishwaukee placed four players in double figures lead by freshman PG Rudy Lopez(Dekalb HS) with 17 points off the bench.  Also scoring in double figures were sophomore PG Bryson Butler(Chicago Lincoln Park HS) with 15 points, 8 rebounds, and 10 assists; followed by 14 points from sophomore guard Ryan Reeder(Mendota HS) who also had 9 rebounds.  Concluding the double figure scoring was sophomore forward Malcolm Reed(Marquette HS) with 13 points and 5 rebounds.  With the win the Kougars move to (11-8) on the season and even their conference record at (1-1).  Kishwaukee is back in action Thursday night as they welcome the Highland Cougars to Malta for a 7:30pm game.
