Kishwaukee triumphs over the College of Lake County 71-55

Kishwaukee completed a (2-0) week after defeating the College of Lake County 71-55 in Malta.  The Kougars improved their overall record in (4-2) and raised their home record to (3-1) on the season.  Kishwaukee and Lake County traded early baskets as both team came out the gates slowly.  The Kougars missed both free throws & open lay-up opportunities during the first half to allow the Lancers to stay close throughout the first 20 minutes.  Sophomore forward Malcolm Reed(Marquette HS) was able to pace the Kougars inside making six of his seven shots in the first half.  Kishwaukee used it pressure to cause 15 turnovers which produced 16 points to help take a 33-29 half-time lead into the locker room.  The second half begun slowly again for both team until the Kougars were able to speed the pace of play and force the Lancers into multiple turnovers which Kishwaukee was able to turn into transition baskets.  Kishwaukee needed a team effort to outlast the Lancers by having eight players record double figure minutes on the floor as well as having all ten players score in the game for the first time this season.  Malcolm Reed would match his first half output with another 12 points in the second half to finish as the high man with 24 points.  Reed would also add 6 rebounds, and 2 assists on the afternoon.  Sophomore forward JoVonte Peals(Marquette HS) filled the stat sheet with a double-double(10 points & 11 rebounds) while also contributing an assist, a block, and 5 steals.  Freshman guard Deshaun Jackson(Peoria HS) added 6 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists, and 5 steals.  Kishwaukee will try and make it three in a row when they return to action next Tuesday night on the road at McHenry County College with a 7:15pm tip time.
