Baseball drops two close ones on spring trip

March 12, 2024 - The Kishwaukee College Baseball team continued their spring trip Tuesday against Motlow State CC in Tennessee.  After losing two games to Jackston State CC on Monday by the scores of 12-6 and 5-4, Kish had leads in both of the games Tuesday against Motlow State CC. In game one, Kish held on to a 3-2 lead going into the bottom of the fifth behind a strong outing by Jacob Skinner on the mound.  Motlow would plate the tying run in the fifth and tack on the walk off run in the bottom of the seventh for a 4-3 victory over Kishwaukee.  Lenox Estremera, Sam Genslinger and Cyrus Mehmedi had the RBI for the Kougars while teammates Daelen Figueroa and Sawyer Eccles scored runs.  Game two continued with a strong effort by Kish as they would battle throughout scoring 4 runs in both the third and fourth innings and adding a run in the top of the seventh but would fall 10-9 in another walk off for Motlow State CC.  Tommy Gargano tallied 3 RBI for the Kougars and Mehmedi with three hits while Ethan Byham (hit, run scored), Aiden Rodriguez (run scored), Will Baumgartner (hit, run scored) and Figueroa (hit, run scored) aided the offensive attack.   Genslinger, Dean Rizzo and Cameron Knapp shared the pitching duties.

Kishwaukee (3-9 overall) will wrap up their Tennessee swing on Wednesday against Columbia State CC before returning home the week of March 18 for games against Oakton CC Tuesday and Morton College Wedensday both on the road then host Morton on Friday.
