Kougars Baseball begins new season

February 24, 2023 - The Kishwaukee College Baseball team began it's 2022-2023 campaign over the weekend of February 17 with doubleheaders against Southeastern Illinois CC at Rent One Park in Marion, Illinois.  The Kougars would come up on the losing end on two close games over the weekend but were able to get in some quality work in against a quality opponent. "It was great to get outdoors and get our legs under us after being inside on turf the past two and a half months," said Head Coach Mark Hernandez.  "It was also great to gauge where we are against a very good program."  Kougars that had a productive weekend against SEICC included Forrest Gerber that collected 2 hits including his first college home run, Tyler Jacobsen who had four hits and two RBI, as well as Zach Van Cura, Mason Struck, Jack Ryan and Blake Novinsky that each had a pair of hits.

"There are some very excting things to look forward to from our student athletes this year and the staff is exited to see how the Sophomores lead along with the early growth of the Freshmen during the initial part of our season leading up to the main Arrowhead Conference games!" added Coach Hernandez.  Kish will have a number of sophomores returning to the squad this year including NJCAA All Region 4, DI catcher Tyler Jacobsen.  Fellow returning sophs that will aide the Kougars this season include pitchers Gavin Gallagher, Tyler Potter and Collin Quandee, plus outfielder Blake Novinsky and DH/1B Zach Cantu.  Additonal transfers that will enhance the lineup this season include OF/P Jack Ryan and OF/IF Isaac Rivera.  Newcomers making an impact will be:

Infielders: Adam Raclawski, Evan Hill, Cameron Knapp, Ryan Adamik, Brody Cook, Mason Struck, Zach Van Cura, Jaylen Edwards, Lenox Estremera and Dean Rizzo

Outfielders: Trevor Delporte, Sam Williams, Forrest Gerber, Ian Solger and Anthony Immordino

Pitchers: Jacob Skinner, Adamik, Solger, Knapp, Delporte, Immordino, Edwards and Sean Mcgee

Catcher: Gabriel Lopez and Cyrus Mehmedi
