Kougars split final regular season DH vs Waubonsee

May 8, 2022 - The Kishwaukee College Baseball team hosted Waubonsee CC in the final home games of the season on Sunday.  The doubleheader was played at Northwestern Medicine Field home of the Kane County Cougars.  Kish would be down early in game one 3-0 after the first inning but battled back to eventually take the lead 6-4 after a three run fourth inning on the way to a 7-5 victory.  Darnell Coleman, Nate Stear and Tyler Jacobsen each had two hits while teammates Jimmy Kalyviaris (2), and Ryan Nelson (1) drove in runs.  Jaden Jones started while Gavin Gallagher finished on the mound to pick up the win for the Kougars.  Game two would take extra innings with Waubonsee pulling it out in the eighth innning 11-8.  Nelson would lead Kish offensively with 3 hits, 3 RBI and 2 runs scored and Zach Cantu adding 2 hits and an RBI. Teammates Blake Novinsky, Will Wojtasiak and Isaiah Nunez crossed the plate each for Kish.  Declan McGrath (2 strikeouts), Tyler Potter (2 strikeouts), Rico Garcia (3 strikeouts) and Wojtasiak split time on the mound for Kishwaukee.

The Kougars will now travel to Triton College to participate in the NJCAA Region 4, Division I tournament that begins Thursday with first game time TBD.
